Learn the basics of this 19th century Salt Printing technique that produces wonderful tones ranging from warm to cool browns. Working in the darkroom with digital negatives, you will merge old and new technologies to create unique, handmade photographs. Bring in your DSLR images, scanned negatives, or iPhone images—anything will work! You will learn all the steps from coating, exposing, and processing salt prints on fine watercolor papers. Using Salt, silver, and sunlight, you will experience how the pioneers of photography made their prints. No darkroom experience is required. All paper/chemistry is provided in the workshop fee, just bring your files on a jump drive! This workshop will take place at the University of Tampa’s fully equipped darkroom.
