Night-time Streetcar
Photo Safaris

Thursday
November 9, 2010
7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Channelside to Ybor
Rain or Moon

Come join us on our new Streetcar Safari. If you have never ridden the trolleys from Channelside to Ybor, you are in for quite a treat.  We will depart from downtown on the TECO Streetcar Line, take an enjoyable evening trip into Ybor City and shoot some of the lights, architecture, and other wonderful elements of this part of town. We will attempt to capture the essence of Ybor Square, 7th Ave, and other elements of the character of this target rich environment.

As you can see from this “backdoor picture”, you never know what you will find. After dark, we will then return via streetcar to downtown where we will finish up shooting from some “secret” locations to capture the beauty of downtown night light. Come have fun and enjoy this unique way of traveling around our rich city for some great photographs.  It is an excellent opportunity to learn and enhance your night/low light photography and cityscape skills.  Participation is limited to 12 people to allow for one on one coaching from the leader (if needed).

Chip Weiner, a professional photographer from Tampa, will lead this fun and informative safari.

Pre-requisites
include Photo 101 or a working knowledge of the manual and semi-automatic modes of your camera. Equipment best suited for night photos will have an adjustable ISO, a long shutter speed of at least 10 seconds, and the ability to manually control the f-stop.  Tripods are also strongly recommended (the instructor has a couple of loaners).

Participants should plan to meet at 7:00 p.m. at the TECO Streetcar terminal located in front of the new Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown (big glass dome).

Please bring your cameras, sturdy tripod, a small garbage bag, light rain suit and camera manuals if you are unfamiliar with the dials.
