the pros get

all the time?
Well ... they
don't always.
They use photo
editing
techniques.
Course Outline
Week 1:
Getting pictures onto your computer.
Using your browser.
Viewing, opening,
and editing images.
Introduction to the
Photoshop tools.
Understanding the power of layers.
Sharpening, cropping, and fixing red eye.
Week 2:
Simple retouching.
Fixing
exposure problems and
color correcting images.
Understanding workflow
and adjustment layers.
Making
black and white images
from color (the advanced
way).
Week 3:
Advanced creative
editing
and changing
backgrounds.
Adjustment maps,
gradient mapping, and
photo restoration.
Week 4:
From photos to oil
painting,
the use of artistic
filters and other
cool stuff to keep you
up until dawn.
Cost for 4-week class is
$125 for museum members
and $150 for
non-members. Credit
cards accepted.
To provide a student
centered learning
environment,
the class
is limited to 15
participants.

the first class
of each session.
Cancellation Policy:
A full
refund will be given up
to two weeks before the
class begins. No refunds
will be given less than
two weeks before the
class starts. If a
participant misses any
one class they may make
up that one missed class
the next time
Digital Darkroom
is offered.
Come join us for a
4-week class that will
help you learn basic
photo-editing skills, as
well as some more
advanced techniques.
It will be a fun and
informational class.
There will be weekly
assignments to help you
learn outside of the
classroom. Basic
computer skills are
required but no
Photoshop experience is
necessary. Feel
free to bring your
pictures to class for
recommendations on
editing.
This class is being
taught by Chip Weiner of
Chip Weiner Photographic
Arts. He has 20 years of
photography and editing
and classroom
experience.
He
brings humor and
practical experience to
enhance learning.
Bring your laptop
computer loaded with
Adobe Elements or come
and observe the class
and get working
knowledge of digital
photo editing.
There are many
good photo
editing software
products.
The one being
used for this
class is Adobe
Photoshop
Elements 8.0.
The instructor
also has working
knowledge of
earlier versions
of Elements -
back to Elements
6, and these
version may be
used in class.
There may also
be some
instruction in
Photoshop CS4.

a a basic photo editing
class meant to introduce
students to some of the
techniques of photo
editing. It is not
comprehensive
instruction in graphic
arts or complex editing
techniques.
Photoshop is a powerful
program with a long
learning curve.
This class is meant to
give students an idea of
how to do simple editing
and learn to create
simple projects.
