About Our Judges

 

David Norr

David Norr is the Curator of Exhibitions and Special Projects for the Institute for Research in Art, which is the umbrella organization for the Contemporary Art Museum and Graphicstudio.  Since his appointment in 2006, he has organized significant exhibitions and projects with artists Patty Chang, Cameron Gainer, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Emanuel Licha, Alyson Shotz and Teresita Fernandez.  Norr is currently working on an exhibition with 2005 MacArthur Fellow Teresita Fernandez which opens at CAM in September 2009.

Norr is also an artist.  His work has exhibited at venues including the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, the Instituto Tlaxcalteca De La Cultura, Centro, Mexico, D.F., and the Museo de Contemporaneo de las Artes in Valdivia, Chile.  Norr received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Colorado at Boulder and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art.  He has taught Sculpture at the Tyler School of Art, the University of Wisconsin at Madison and at USF.  

 

M. K. Foltz

M. K. studied photography at The Rhode Island School of Design.  Her mentors at R.I.S.D. are considered masters of twentieth century modernist photography: Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Frederick Sommer, Lisette Model, Gary Winogrand and Lee Friedlander.  She was a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowship in Photography. M. K. has served as a portfolio reviewer for the International Meeting Place at FOTOFEST International Biennial.

M. K. moved to Florida to build a photo major at the Ringling College of Art and Design in 1995.  She is the recipient of a series of four Fulbright fellowships for artist residencies: Hungary (2003), the Czech Republic (2004), Lithuania (2005) and Turkey (2006).  Her photographs are in the permanent collections of the Tampa Museum of Art, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cincinnati Museum of Art, Portland Museum of Art in Maine, Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, and the International Museum at George Eastman House in Rochester.
